This Handbook applies to all Farmers authorized with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services-Virginia Division for the Aging (DARS-VDA) to participate in the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Virginia, also called the Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Program. These procedures should be reviewed carefully before a Farmer signs an agreement to participate in the Farm Market Fresh for Seniors Program. The authorized Farmer must comply with principles and procedures outlined in this handbook to retain authorization. |

The Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program Final Rule (71 FR 74618), published in the Federal Register on December 12, 2006, established the SFMNP as a formula grant program and the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 (the 2008 Farm Bill) P.L. 110-246 provided for funding of the program. |
